Iowa Wedding Photographer | Rock The Dress – with dogs!

When Melissa scheduled her Rock the Dress (trash the dress) session with me and wanted it to be in November I warned her that it would likely be snowing and very cold.  She wanted to do it anyway.  Boy, was I wrong!  I am not lying when I say I shot this session last weekend.  As in 3 days ago.  It was actually 70 degrees out and beautiful.  We needed no jackets of any sort!  They even ended up in the lake (for a quick 2 minutes)!  Melissa took a slightly different take on rock the dress and did it canine style.  She shows dogs for a living and has 3 beautiful pointers that are her babies.  She wanted to get wedding photos with them and it just wasn’t something that was a possibility on her wedding day.  So, we did it and it turned out beautifully.  Check them out!

  • These are so beautiful! I’m amazed with the consistency of your colors. If I were her, I’d buy a massive canvas of the first image and hang it somewhere *prominent*.

  • Really really fun stuff here! I really like what I’ll call the “dog tail moustache” picture – what a catch.

  • These are absolutely gorgeous Amanda! So many frame worthy moments. I just love that the dogs were such a big part of the session, and that field location is spectacular! Such dreamy romantic hues 🙂

  • Hahahah! That shot with the dog under the dress is awesome! It appears to be snowing in a few shots? So dreamy. Perfect lighting!

  • Gorgeous set of images, Amanda!! I wish more people would include their dogs in their sessions!

  • Lovely light. The first two are my faves!

  • Thanks Ben! It’s actually not snow, it is parts of the bouquet/flowers she is holding. When we shook them it put a lot of tiny petals in the air and I thought it was very pretty in the light!

  • Amanda, you did a wonderful job on these images. The love this couple feels for each other really shines through — they are so happy and having such a great time. 🙂

  • I love it. I was also trying to figure out what was in the first one. It’s a great addition.

  • pretty awesome stuff amanda. looks like a super fun couple. i dig.

  • okay, the dog jumping with the couple in focus is one of my all time favorite photos!

  • Lovely session…I agree that there are so many frameable moments for this couple…it looks like you had an amazing time

  • New trend “Rock the dress: Canine Style” 🙂 How cold was that water too? Great job!

About Amanda

I absolutely LOVE being a wedding photographer. The fantastic moments you never expect, the tiniest details and all the love and craziness that goes on at the same time. It's all amazing and I feel like I have the best career in the world, getting to capture and help you remember all of it. Days flit by in an instant and it's my job to make sure you don't a single moment, or those feelings you felt.

In my free time I love spending time with my 2 beautiful kiddos and husband. I love to be outdoors camping, hiking or fishing, just being in nature. I'm obsessed with plants and gardening. I love finding the beauty in the outdoors and things around me. It's part of why I love photography so much, I get to find the beauty in others. Traveling and dragging my family along with me for photos is my absolute favorite! I also am pretty much a giant Harry Potter nerd. I'm obsessed with all things turquoise. I'd eat sushi every day if I could. I drink coffee ALL day EVERY day (ok and some wine) and fashion is a passion! I am a creative at heart so music and all types of art keep me entertained. I also make it a priority to be near the ocean at least once a year (if not more) and love to feel the sun on my skin whenever possible!
