Last week I shot my first ever Muslim wedding. This was one a little unique in that it was partly a Christian ceremony and partly a Muslim ceremony. Nothing about this wedding was traditional. There was no first kiss, no dancing, no wedding party, just two very different families coming together and sharing in one another’s beliefs and customs. It took place over 2 days. The 1st day was the 2 ceremonies and the 2nd day was the reception located at Raccoon River Lodge in West Des Moines. This wedding won’t quite look like a lot of the weddings I shoot, we didn’t really have many formal portraits (other than private family portraits). I just photographed the emotion and the union. It was also my first time trying out Indian food and it was great! My mouth burned a little, but luckily they gave me cucumbers to sooth my mouth. It definitely tasted wonderful and will be something I take my husband to try as he is a spicy food lover as well. It was all a new and fun experience for me!
Sarah and Waqar thank you for trusting me in photographing your two big days, I wish you both all the best in the future!
